With over 1,600 exhibitors from 57 countries and around 60,000 trade visitors from 148 nations, Interzum 2025 reaffirmed its position as the leading platform for design components. From May 20 to 23, Cologne became an international hub for innovative materials, intelligent components, and sustainable technologies.
"Rethinking Resources”: The Common Thread of Transformation
The central theme of the 2025 edition was *Rethinking Resources: Circular and Bio-based Solutions*, which inspired both exhibitors and visitors to reflect on the future of the industry with sustainability in mind. From panels made of recovered fibers to zinc recycling systems, the circular approach was the true protagonist of the fair.
A Global Meeting Point for the Sector
The three exhibition areas — Function & Components, Materials & Nature* and Textile & Machinery — offered a comprehensive overview of market innovations. In particular, the Function & Components sector showcased technical components and mechanical solutions that combine design, ergonomics, and functional innovation. The displayed products highlighted how modern furniture design is increasingly focused on modularity, space efficiency, and smart automation, meeting the needs of ever more flexible home and work environments.
The Function & Components and Materials & Nature sectors today represent the pillars of innovation in the furniture industry, where functionality goes hand-in-hand with respect for natural resources. The 2025 edition of Interzum demonstrated that it is possible to combine design, performance, and sustainability into practical solutions ready for the global market.
Real Connections
The rich event program — including the Interzum Trend Forums and the Interzum Stage — delved into key topics such as biocircular materials, the Digital Product Passport, and eco-innovation strategies.
The interactive #ILoveMyinterzum area fostered exchange and networking in an informal atmosphere, strengthening the sense of community among industry professionals.

Interzum will return to Cologne from May 11 to 14, 2027, reaffirming its commitment to leading the transition toward a more sustainable, intelligent, and global future for furniture.
