Special Issue: Ambiente Cucina Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

The skill of competence is the theme we have chosen to highlight an industry in which we have been a leading source of information, training, and professional development for 50 years.

Fifty years of training, timely and in-depth information, and reporting on an industry, its leading figures and the many transformations that have shaped it over the past half-century.
It has been a long journey, involving many different players: some in the spotlight, others less visible but no less important. Throughout this time, we have maintained an independent, consistent and, whenever necessary, critical approach, seeking to highlight the strengths and dynamics of this world.
We have done so by taking care over our own work and respecting the work of others, first striving to understand products, projects and services, and then presenting those that are genuinely well made. We firmly believe that respect for materials, the quality of workmanship and detailing, and consideration for both people and the planet are the foundations on which lasting success can be built.
Over the years, we have devoted considerable energy to giving something back to this industry, beginning with the people who truly make a difference and with the relationships between them: manufacturers, designers, retailers, entrepreneurs, managers and craftspeople, as well as all those who know how to make a piece of furniture, an appliance or a component.
These relationships have grown stronger throughout the supply chain, as has the connection between its different players and Ambiente Cucina. Together, we have effectively built a community through a continuous exchange of information and a cohesive team effort based on collaboration, shared knowledge, common goals and different personalities.
These human and professional qualities have helped create lasting relationships among everyone who has been part of Ambiente Cucina.
Special thanks go to Raffaella, Carla, Laura, Sabrina, Paola, Maria and Federica, as well as to all the editors, journalists and contributors whose professionalism you have appreciated while reading the magazine over the years.
Our thanks also go to everyone who has supported us, believed in our work and continues to regard Ambiente Cucina as an authoritative – and, I hope, impartial and objective – point of reference.
In our own way, we have sought to contribute to the culture of an industry that has always been particularly rich in knowledge. It has grown from solid foundations: expertise, vision and the ability to renew itself by opening up to influences from different geographical, cultural and expressive backgrounds. It has done so in order never to stand still, but to continue evolving.
This has been possible thanks to the industry’s capacity for innovation: in processes and products, in complex projects and in the small details that make a difference.
We have tried to follow a similar path, preserving and improving the quality of our content, updating the magazine’s visual identity and strengthening our relationship with our core readership: kitchen retailers. Especially in recent years, however, we have also increasingly engaged with architects, designers and specifiers, a growing number of whom now follow our work.
Innovation has also involved the development of our editorial platform, extending our communication across all the magazine’s digital channels and creating opportunities for industry professionals to meet. These occasions have become increasingly valuable as spaces for discussion, exchange and professional enrichment.
It is now my responsibility – and an honour I hardly feel I deserve– to mark this milestone and look ahead to the next chapter of Ambiente Cucina with renewed passion and enthusiasm. Our aim is to reinforce the credibility we have built step by step, through hard work and sacrifice, but also with great satisfaction.
This is also why we invite you to join us in Milan on 28 October for The Skill of Creativity. Full information is available on our website. The event will explore the kitchen environment of today, but above all that of the future.
For the next fifty years – and beyond.
